Life's great mysteries only get more confusing the closer you look.
Saddelights is a multimedia collaborative project between visual artist Aaron Zonka and Musical Artist Dust collector. It takes the form of 4.5 minute Musical compositions accompanied by a 20 page booklet that corresponds to the track with illustrations and lyrics.
It all started with a page of writing that sparked a potential world. As the music began to germinate the landscape began to unfold. The process continued to evolve from there each side influencing the other. The project has a great deal to do with the cross pollination of collaboration. Stressing the idea that what you set out to make is not what you end up with when you are finished.
We started with a seed of an idea which was intentionally vague so that we could let the project lead us to its own destination. Co-creating a world of mystery that’s rich with potential Ideas. It was important to us that this project be a physical object. As time moves forward many of the things that meant so much to us have been transformed into disposable files. We wanted to make something that you could hold onto. Some thing will wear and tear along with you.
We are putting so much time into something that appears so small. But within it holds a world much vaster than our efforts. In order to experience this world you need to fully immerse yourself in it and not merely view the content passively as background noise. We wanted to make something that used one another's work as reference.
It was created as a conversation between mediums. Nether of us overtly saying what our piece was about but letting the other interpret whatever was experienced in the others work.
